A Late showing and more dolls outfits

Hi There, well I know I have stayed away for a while but I didn't realise it had been so long, Now that I have logged in to post this blog posting I realise it was before Christmas!!!! since I last posted, so  I am very sorry. My only excuse is that I had so many sales coming up to Christmas from my shop, that I have been sewing like mad whenever I have the time, to try and re-stock the dolls clothes in there. Actually I have two excuses, my second one is that as well as the part time nursing job I already have I have now  joined the nursing bank and also work Wednesday afternoons now, which means I have  a little bit bit more in my monthly wage, (needed to help the afore mentioned son at uni), and also it helps to boost my future pension, so that when I retire in 3 years- Yes three years folks! yipee!- I will then have more time to commit to this blog and my shop, and will be able to finally call myself self employed. yeay! 
So now I have missed posting about Christmas, new year, Valentines day, and Mothers day. But I will just mention that also Just imediately after Christmas I lost a very dear freind of mine to a brain tumour and we knew about it and that the end would inevitably come at the end of August last year so I would like to also post a little tribute to a very brave and immensly strong willed lady, who because of her passing the world is missing a very special person, sleep well my lovely freind.

Well I did save some photos of my Mothers day presents from my son so I must have had this blog entry in mind somewhere so I hope you will frogive me for showing them off now. He is a very lovely lad that despite me saying on his request 'what would you like for mothers day mum?' - just get me a card and I'll be happy- he bought me the biggest box of my most favourite chocolates

And a beautiful tin containing lots of bath bombs, soaps etc. He said when he gave it to me 'well you will have a nice tin afterwards to keep your sewing stuff in' aw thats my son- he knows me well. I'm not allowed to advertise on here I don't think but if you look at the white bath bomb the eagle eyed ones amongst you will be able to see the brand name  ;) .

I also recently went to Wakefield on a little shopping expedition, I was originally going to Manchester on one of my usual trips for fabrics but when I got to the station there was a problem and there were lots of people milling around the station that had been let off the trains, that were rendered stationary due to a fault somewhere in leeds, then all the trains were delayed except for one going to wakefield. As I have lived in Yorkshire for 32 years now and never been to wakefield I decided fate was telling me to go and hopped on the train.
  And I am glad I did as it is a lovely place, with some lovely historic buildings and good shops. I called in the cathedral and lit one of my usual candles for friends and members of family that have passed. I always find this a comforting thing to do, and love to be in a peaceful church for a little serene space of time whilst shopping in a big town.
And I popped in the indoor market and found these lovely cushions , which I just had to buy, its good to treat yourself once in a while isn't it?

The first green one is one  of two I already had bought earlier near  Christmas time, just the covers, from Wilkinsons , the photo doesn't show the colour up too well, they are actually a lime green satin with sequins sewn on in rows, the two black ones on the right are the ones I bought in Wakefield , they are both in black velvet, the one in the middle  has a sumptuous black braid with large round crystals hanging from it, absolutely love it but I won't let anyone use it to lean on, its just to look at you understand! ha ha!  ;) . And the other one is also black velvet with silver stitching and large oval clear jewels attached, love them both.  NB -Actually now that I have mentioned Wilkinsons you may as well know too, the bath bombs in a tin are from Lush! haha!

Anyway as I said earlier I really have spent a lot of time sewing to restock the shop and today I have been putting the finishing touches to some of  the outfits, sewing on buttons, motifs etc. ready for photographing them and listing them in my shop this evening.

Actually this has turned out to be I think, one of my longest postings on here! - So after such a lot of typing and loading pics,  I do hope someone comes along to read it and my regular followers havn't given up on me as a bad blogger , :(  maybe someone may even post a comment ?!  Ha Ha I live in hope, until next time ta ta for now and enjoy all the things you usually enjoy, and I will too- byeee x

custom orders and a visit from my son

Hi there its been a while since I posted as I've been busy with custom orders of dolls clothes, no time to sew for the shop at all. I've also had one of those awful fluey colds which with having fibro as well really knocked me for six. This is what my work table looks like at the moment.  Not a pretty sight I know but there is a lot of work in progress, I can assure you!

Last week it was my son's first show at uni, they did a shortened version of Oliver and I was so proud of him! I miss him a lot , I miss hearing him sing around the house, and just miss him in general really.  :(  however he came home this weekend , and although he does his washing in the halls he hadn't had time with all his rehearsals. So the washing came with him, loads of it!

So my trusty machine was on for most of the weekend, and when we took him back to halls I found another load in the basket to take home with me! It was lovely to have him home for a while though and am looking forward to the Christmas break with him. And probably more washing!!

Custom orders and a rainy day

Hi all, well I am getting over my op now and the knee feels much stronger.  I am very busy too at the moment with custom orders for dolls clothes, getting on with those with the hopes of more to come now we're getting nearer Christmas, I just hope peeps don't leave it until late to order custom made as they do take longer then just sewing to stock the shop, as there are certain fabrics to buy for the different outfits wanted.

And what an awful weekend it has been to be sure weatherwise.  This is the view that I face as I'm sewing today, you can see how dull it is , and the rain beating on the windowpane.  You can also see what a mess my garden is in, I haven't been able to get out in it much this summer as my knee has been paining me since I injured it back in April. And my OH has been busy with his upholstery business.  So I do apologise for the photo, really it was just to show you the weather  ;(   of course if anyone wants to offer their services of the agricultural kind I would be more than thankfull, ...........OK then but give me full marks for trying ;)

Our son is settling well into uni life, being a little mischevious around the town as students do, but nothing bad, just silly --planking and stuff like that but he is looking after himself and posted one of his meals that he made himself on facebook to show that he is a superchef.
In fact I am just about to ring him back now as he has just answered his phone to me amid an uproar of  'oh my god!' and other expletives, and much hysterical, loud laughter, as  he and his flatmates were just returning from the pub as I rang and apparently someone has returned to a flooded room, not my son I hope, but there was so much of a kerfuffle coming over the phone I couldn't make much out , hence I will ring back and hope that they have calmed down somewhat.  Oh the fun of it all!

A Productive time

Hi All ! Sorry I realise it's been a while since I did catch up, but have been busy taking my son around different uni's and taking him to Auditions, he is hoping for a BA in Musical Theatre, so all has been really busy around here, although it will all be worth it of course when he gets to where he wants to go on his next stage in his career path!

There has also been sickness in the house with winter bugs,but I think we're all getting over that now. Anyway for some of this week and all of last week I was on leave from the day job and able to catch up on tasks at home, and get some serious sewing done too.

This was what my kitchen table looked like for most of the week- busy busy!, with no room for anything else!

I sewed almost none stop from early morning to teatime, with lots of these to help me along -

And inbetween I had to keep doing this, otherwise I would have had complaints from my son, and my OH

And I also had some interference from him, I think he was trying to tell me I would do better making a start on the garden ready for spring ;)

But finally towards the end of the second week befor I went back to the day job, I managed to produce these!

And a few more besides. Now its just a case of photographing them all on the dolls, and loading them all into my shop, which has been rather depleted since after the Christmas rush.  Although I do have quite a large sale section in there at the moment.

Busy sewing to stock the shop

Hi there, What awful rainy weather we are having here in the West Yorkshire region, and I'm sure in other regions too, like many of you I am not looking forward to Winter, I am just not a winter person, however I have been keeping busy sewing new Items for the shop for the coming winter season. Coats and berets, a duffle coat, and hoping to get some more seasonal items on soon ready for Christmas shoppers. Oh no! I hear you say, she said that dreaded C word!, I know I'm not keen on it yet either, but it will come sooner than we think, so I have to be prepared. Here is a taster of some of the recent items to my shop :-

I do try to sew for most occasions and seasons, I think it is important for dolly to dress accordingly!  ;)
